History of the Boosters Antique Show 

The Duxbury Boosters Antique Show originated in 1982. Boosters was out of money, people were tired of selling raffle tickets and everyone was weary of bake sales. Carol Cass brought the idea of an antique show to a Boosters meeting. She had been to a show in Maine and was eager to try it in Duxbury. While some members were skeptical, many thought the idea could work. After meeting with a consultant who wanted to charge $1,200, the members decided to go it alone. Visits to New England antique shops ensued with please come to Duxbury for the spring show. Much like the shows of today, student porters and ticket takers came out to help and volunteers donated baked goods. The community embraced the idea and the show made a profit from that first year on!

Boosters Club members from that first show include Mary Walsh, Carol Cass, Jan Renner, Alannah Rand, Sharon Andrew, Joan Doscher, Sue Miller, Cynthia Locke, Pat McEvoy Hamilton, Marilyn Patch, Veda Ullathorne, Maggie Kearny and Pat Wiedner. Their husbands are fondly remembered for building signs and placing them all over town, as well as sleeping in the gym that first year to guard the antique wares because they could not afford to hire a policeman!
